Let us introduce you Jacques. (with Nicolas IBARLUCIA) Our main topic was a smart canne, to assist blind people in their daily itineraries throughout the city. We realized that a group of students from Nancy came up with that idea in 2014. We then decided to add some abilities (but the initial canne was already a marvelous object !) : Jacques will be able to indicate the location and time, steps and obstacles to destination. It is paired with a headset to give the details to the person using it. Jacques is also able to give a precise daily forecast to avoid any late surprise. In addition, it is able to send messages through the headset micro and receive/make phonecalls. It indicates its user the next red lights, and when is the right moment to cross it. The next tool is still a prototype : the user will have a ring on one of his finger, and in any supermarket, whatever product he/she takes in his/her hand will be detected by the ring and detailed through the headset.
